일본 방위성은 중국 해군의 미사일 구축함이 동중국해 일본 섬 근처를 지나면서, 한 달 넘게 일본 열도를 선회했다고 밝혔다.

또한, 일본 방위성에 따르면, 중국 해군의 052D형(뤼양-Ⅲ급) 탄도 유도탄을 탑재한 구축함(함번 134)과 보급함이 지난 일요일, 오키나와현 미야코섬 동쪽 약 120km(75마일) 해역에서 일본 해상자위대에 의해 포착됐다고 전해진다.

지난 월요일 일본 방위성은 “이후 해당 선박들은 오키나와 본섬과 미야코섬 사이 해역을 북서쪽으로 항해해 동중국해로 향한 것이 확인됐다”고 보도자료를 통해 밝혔다.

이어 “방위성과 자위대는 해상자위대 제7호위대군 소속 구축함 유다치(오미나토), 제45기뢰전대 소속 이즈시마(하코다테), 제2항공군 소속 P-3C(하치노헤), 제5항공군 소속 P-3C(나하)를 동원해 감시와 정보 수집을 실시했다”고 덧붙였다.

해당 보도자료에 따르면, 이번에 확인된 중국 함정들은 지난 7월 24일 한반도와 일본 열도 사이의 대한해협을 통해 북동쪽으로, 8월 8일 홋카이도와 러시아 사할린 사이의 소야(宗谷) 해협을 통해 동쪽으로 항해했던 바로 그 선박들이다.

일본 민영방송사 FNN(후지뉴스네트워크)은 이번 중국 군함의 한 달 넘는 기동이 “일본 열도를 거의 완전히 선회했다”고 보도했다.

일본 방위성은 러시아 해군의 우달로이-I급 구축함(함번 564)과 보급함이 8월 29일 아오모리현 시리야 곶 동쪽 약 70km 해역에서 북서쪽으로 이동해, 홋카이도와 혼슈 사이 쓰가루 해협을 통과하는 모습이 포착됐다고 밝혔다.

이 러시아 함정들은 8월 8일 소야 해협을 동쪽으로 항해했을 당시 중국 군함과 같은 해역에 있었던 동일한 함정들이다.

중국과 러시아 해군 함정의 일본 주변 항해는 서태평양 합동 순찰의 일환으로 추정된다. 양국 함대는 15일간의 공동 항해를 마친 뒤, 8월 20일에 항로를 달리하며 훈련을 종료했다고 신화통신은 전했다.

이번 합동 순찰은 8월 1일부터 5일까지 블라디보스토크 인근에서 실시된 중러 합동 군사훈련 ‘해상연합-2025’ 직후에 이뤄졌다.

최근 중국과 러시아는 서태평양에서의 군사 협력을 강화하고 있다. 지난달 양국 해군은 사상 최초로 태평양에서 합동 잠수함 순찰을 실시했으며, 한국의 동해와 동중국해를 거쳐 2,000해리(3,700km) 이상 항해했다고 러시아 태평양함대가 밝혔다.

중러 해군의 일본 열도 주변에서의 항해는 중국이 일본의 제2차 세계대전 패전 80주년을 기념해 오는 수요일 열리는 군사 퍼레이드를 앞두고 진행됐다.

시진핑 중국 국가주석과 푸틴 러시아 대통령은 이 대규모 기념행사에 나란히 참석할 것으로 예상된다.

일본은 외국 정상들에게 중국의 군사 퍼레이드 참석을 자제해 달라고 요청했으며, 이에 대해 베이징은 항의 의사를 전달하고 “역사적 침략 행위를 직시하고 반성하라”고 촉구했다.

China’s Type 052D warship and replenishment vessel nearly circled Japanese archipelago in a month-long sailing, Japan defence ministry says

According to the ministry, the Chinese navy’s Type 052D guided missile destroyer, also known as the Luyang-III class, bearing hull number 134, and its replenishment ship were spotted about 120km (75 miles) east of Miyako island of Okinawa prefecture by Japan’s Maritime Self-Defence Force on Sunday.

“It was subsequently confirmed that these vessels proceeded northwest through the waters between the main island of Okinawa and Miyakojima, heading towards the East China Sea,” the ministry said in a press release on Monday.

“The ministry of defence and the self-defence forces conducted surveillance and intelligence gathering using the Maritime Self-Defence Force’s 7th escort squadron’s Yūdachi (Ominato), the 45th minesweeping squadron’s Izushima (Hakodate), the 2nd air group’s P-3C (Hachinohe) and the 5th air group’s P-3C (Naha),” it added.

The Chinese vessels were the same as those that had sailed northeast through the Korea Strait between the Korean peninsula and the Japanese archipelago on July 24 and east through the Sōya Strait between Hokkaido and Russia’s Sakhalin on August 8, according to the press release.

Fuji News Network, a Japanese television broadcaster, reported that the Chinese warships’ more than month-long manoeuvre near Japan “almost completely circled” the country’s archipelago.

In addition, Japan’s defence ministry said the Russian Navy’s Udaloy I-class destroyer bearing hull number 564 and its replenishment ship were spotted proceeding northwest in waters about 70km east of Cape Shiriya in Aomori prefecture, to transit the Tsugaru Strait between Japan’s islands Hokkaido and Honshu on August 29.

The Russian ships were the same ones that were sailing east through the Soya Strait on August 8 – the date when Chinese warships were spotted in the same waters.

The Chinese and Russian naval vessels sailing around Japan are thought to be part of a joint patrol in the western Pacific Ocean, as the two countries’ fleets held a separation ceremony on August 20 after a 15-day joint cruise, according to Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
